PROJECT OBJECTIVES
- Remove permanent floor marking
- Clean concrete of any residues / surfactants
- Grind all cracks and fissures to prepare for filling
- Fill all cracks and fissures with high-resistance epoxy mortar
- Polish concrete
- Apply dust-proofing agent
- Apply sealer to protect the surface and insure resistance towards forklift tire marks, chemical spillage, etc
Novo Nordisk
The client acquired an older cold-storage facility that required updates to comply with the standards of the pharmaceutical industry.
The floor was app. 15 years old and showed large areas with cracks and fissures, due to poor maintenance – a problem we often meet in this type of facilities.
Details of the existing conditions are provided below.
Existing conditions
- Existing concrete floor
- Old floor with extreme cracks and fissures
- Wear from heavy machinery traffic
- Permanent floor markings
- Problematic environment as temperature under 5°
POLISANIER® DICTIONARY
To understand the difference between cracks and fissures:
Cracks are mostly structural damage, which means that you underfloor concrete is exposed which can be very bad if not corrected quickly as it will lead to bigger problems fast.
Fissures are normally only thin cracks in the upper surface and mostly cosmetic damage ie. it does not present any immediate problems as they are not very deep – It can however, if not dealt with, turn into cracks and will then become a bigger problem.

Polished concrete floors offer a wide range of benefits – such as durability, easy maintenance, resistance to chemical spill, etc – that make them an excellent choice for particularly the pharmaceutical industry. See more key advantages below.
POLISANIER® : FAST AND SEAMLESS INSTALLATION
To keep the warehouse fully operational during the POLISANIER® treatment, we were required to work in extremely cold conditions (below 5°C). It was crucial to the client that the facility continued functioning throughout the process.
After addressing all cracks and fissures using a specialized epoxy mortar designed to cure in low temperatures, we proceeded to grind the entire floor using the POLISANIER® system.
The result was a high-gloss finish that not only enhanced the floor’s functionality and appearance, but also made it easier to maintain, effectively eliminating dust emissions from within the concrete.
